Teaching Philosophy

Music has been at the heart of my life since I began violin at three years old.
From my first lessons in Korea, through more than a decade of advanced study in Vienna’s distinguished classical tradition, to earning an Artist Diploma at the Yale School of Music and a Doctor of Musical Arts in the United States, I have experienced how inspired mentorship can shape a child’s character and future.

At Sharon Cho Music Academy, I strive to offer that same transformative guidance.
My studio welcomes highly motivated students as young as six, and I believe even the youngest can achieve remarkable growth when nurtured with care, discipline, and imagination.

Each lesson is a true conversation—an exploration of sound, technique, and expression—designed to cultivate both virtuosic skill and an authentic musical voice.

My teaching blends the disciplined precision of European conservatory training with the creative, student-centered approach of American graduate programs, ensuring every student builds a solid technical foundation while developing individuality and artistry.

Many aim for top conservatories, Ivy-League universities, and elite competitions, but my mission reaches beyond accolades: to instill the discipline, empathy, and lifelong joy that music uniquely provides.

Whether refining a simple folk melody or preparing a Paganini caprice, we work together to develop patience, curiosity, and courage—qualities that create not only exceptional musicians but extraordinary human beings.
Guiding each student on this journey, from the first small bow stroke to the grandest stage, is my greatest privilege.
